Well deserved recognition for North Country Life Flight Board Chair Dr. Charles Gibbs. This summer he received the Distinguished Service Award from Adirondack Medical Center and recently the New York State Senate honored Dr. Gibbs.

2009 LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Charles C. Gibbs upon the occasion of receiving the Distinguished Service Award from Adirondack Medical Center on June 13, 2009.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to those dedicated individuals within the medical field who distinguish themselves through professional excellence and who have made significant contributions to the quality of life of citizens in the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long- standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Charles C. Gibbs upon the occasion of receiving the Distinguished Service Award from Adirondack Medical Center on June 13, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Born in Syracuse and raised in Liverpool, New York, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs attended Liverpool High School, where he was a member of the Soccer Team, played trumpet in both the Marching and Concert Bands and was the Valedictorian of his class; and

WHEREAS, After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Biology, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs enrolled at Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, now known as the SUNY Health Science Center College of Medi- cine, where he discovered his passion for anesthesiology; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs went on to complete his residency at Syracuse University Hospital and finished a one-year fellowship in geriatric anesthesiology at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Syracuse before accepting his first medical staff appointment at the Newark/Wayne Community Hospital in Newark, New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1985, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs partnered with Dr. David Rowell to establish Adirondack Anesthesia Service and joined the medical staff at Adirondack Medical Center, where he served as President in 1991; and

WHEREAS, A Board-certified Anesthesiologist, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs is currently the Chair of North Country Life Flight and was the founding Secretary and a former Chair of Trudeau Health Systems and past President of the Franklin County Medical Society; and

WHEREAS, A true citizen of the North Country, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs believes in giving back to the region he loves so much; he currently serves as Chair of the Rainbow Lake Water Protection District for the Franklin County Legislature; and

WHEREAS, With Dr. Charles C. Gibbs throughout have been his wife, Rene, and their two daughters, Shannon and Emily, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure at Adirondack Medical Center, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs has served as a role model of leadership to be emulated by all, sharing with others his knowledge and expertise, as well as his dedication and commitment to quality health care; and

WHEREAS, A leader in his profession, Dr. Charles C. Gibbs has contributed to the maintenance and enhancement of the highest professional standards, proving himself to be a great asset to medicine and to the health and welfare of the citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the great State of New York; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to express its highest admiration for Dr. Charles C. Gibbs and to wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Dr. Charles C. Gibbs upon the occasion of receiving the Distinguished Service Award from Adirondack Medical Center on June 13, 2009; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Dr. Charles C. Gibbs.
