North Country Life Flight is an amazing concept—that twenty-one years later continues to be a great idea, a worthwhile initiative and successful community effort. In the beginning, what we never anticipated was the fact that each year Life Flight would become more important. This year, our twenty-first year, has the potential of being our most important. With the shortage of physicians in our rural areas, the distances of specialists and the centralizing of specialty care, there has never been a greater need in regions like the North Country for air medical transport.
