Wings Wars VI was an amazing event! Thanks so much to everyone who supported North Country Life Flight at the tastiest Wing Wars ever. Much gratitude to WSLP 93.3 FM for sponsoring Wing Wars, Yuengling and Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service for presenting and fabulous prizes, all who donated items for the silent auction. Thanks to our gracious hosts and staff at Wiseguys Sportsbar. The chefs of this year's eateries and night spots came up with amazing wing recipes and sauces. Who has the best chicken wings in our region? You can help declare the winner of Wing Wars 6, a friendly competition among area restaurants that will raise funds for North Country Life Flight. At press time, eight eateries plan to participate; each bringing 500 of their best wings to Wiseguys in Lake Placid on Sunday, November 10th, from Noon till 4:00 PM. For $12 admission at the door at Wiseguys, you can eat wings for as long as they last. All of the door proceeds will be donated to North Country Life Flight, the region’s air medical rescue team. Raffles and silent auction items will also be part of the festivities with all funds benefitting Life Flight. The first 100 attendees will receive a free Wing Wars T-shirt.Wing Wars 6 is sponsored by WSLP/93.3 FM and presented by Yuengling.

Participating eateries in Wing Wars 6 include: defending 2012 champion Dancing Bears Restaurant at High Peaks Resort; 2008, 2009, 2011 Wing War Champion Wiseguys 2010 Wing War Champion Kanu Restaurant at Whiteface Lodge; Price Chopper; The Cottage Café; Generations Restaurant; Delta Blue Restaurant and Red Neck Bistro The winner will be announced live on WSLP/93.3 FM

New this year, the Wing Wars Champion will be selected by a panel of celebrity judges in blind tastings. The judges will be:

Jim Tolkan – actor from movies like Back to the Future and Top Gun
Craig Randall – Mayor of Lake Placid
Kevin Greg – Chef/Owner of Café Rustica Restaurant
Zack Morse – Radio Personality from Philadelphia
The crowd will also receive ballots to vote for their favorite wing.

WOW! A profound look at life, in 4 minutes. You have to watch this – and share it. We literally welled up with tears – very rarely does that happen.

The camera wanders and shows the inner lives of people around us as they do their daily tasks. Most of it is set in a hospital, where there is so much worry, sadness, some joy, bad news, good news, no news, anxiety, fear – as in real life, but perhaps magnified.

At this, the beginning of EMS week, we are beginning the week by thanking all or you who volunteer your time to make emergency medical services possible in rural regions like ours. You rock!!!

WHO IS THE REAL JERRY DOOLIN?   A MEMBER OF THE LIFE FLIGHT CREW,
OF COURSE!!!

Readers of Adirondack Treasure - The Bonaparte Legacy know him as "the
level-headed cop," Jerry Doolin. While he is a level-headed cop - trooper
actually - his real name is Mike Dolan.

While I was writing The Bonaparte Legacy, Mike was my go-to guy when I
needed to consult an expert on the workings of the New York State Police. I
based the character, Jerry Doolin, on him. I was so impressed with his
intellect and character, insight and humor, I asked if he would be
interested in co-authoring the next book with me. It is one of the best
decisions I have ever made.

As the co-author of Adirondack Treasure - Isle Royale, I've gotten to know
him as a dear friend.  Working with Mike on the book has truly been a unique
experience. Unlike many co-author relationships, Isle Royale has actually been a 50/50
partnership. Adirondack Treasure - Isle Royale is Mike Dolan, through and
through.

Good news! Mike's alter ego, Jerry Doolin, is back as well. His adventures
with his friend, Joseph Benton, will keep you riveted as they search for a
treasure buried on an island in the St. Lawrence River during the French and
Indian War. Terrorists, intent on dealing a catastrophic blow to the United
States will divert Jerry & Joseph's attention, and keep you up at night,
turning the pages trying to figure out what's really happening.

Step aside Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler. Mike Dolan is going to emerge as
the king of suspense/thriller writers in the North Country.

Adirondack Treasure - Isle Royale is due out in the fall of 2013.
